Blackford Intermediate - Hartford City

The Big Idea Initiative of Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana focuses on helping students succeed by strengthening the relationships between families, schools and their community. Food and other essential resources provide a catalyst for students and their families to connect with the school, providing Hope for Today. The real power of The Big Idea is the way it helps us walk alongside our neighbors as they build increased Hope for Tomorrow.

In all 8 counties we serve, volunteers from organizations, clubs, businesses, churches, etc. will have been recruited prior to The Big Idea events starting at a school. Those volunteers will work with staff to create an environment where relationships and trust are built between children, families and resource providers.

All of these pieces join together to form one "Big Idea". The Big Idea that our children, families, schools and communities will all thrive when we all work together to support and encourage everyone’s individual talents and aspirations.
